At Magnify, we champion research and design practices that strive for a more equitable society.
This mission extends to our conferences, where we make room for each other at the table, provide mentorship and centre accessibility.
We support each other to recognise and avoid perpetuating inequities through sharing knowledge and a culture of critical reflection and accountability.
The Magnify Conference is run by designers and researchers for the design and research community and is not for profit. If you want to get involved, get in touch by emailing hello@magnifyconference.com!
All events are run with accessibility at the front of mind, using an accessibility plan we developed with Fable.
Magnify was founded in 2021 to centre people most impacted by exclusionary design and to create space for critical reflection about our design practice. Through learning, sharing and advocacy, we can move the field towards equity-seeking design approaches together.
Magnify 2021 brought together 17 speakers, 4 workshops and 150 enthusiastic attendees. Between 2022 and 2023, the team ran free community events for attendees to discuss issues ranging from research approaches to compassion fatigue. These events took place for UK, Canada, USA, New Zealand and Australia.
I found attending the last Magnify conference inspiring. To hear speakers talk about inclusion from so many different backgrounds is so valuable. To know you're not alone with your thinking and challenge self-doubt which is often distorted by narrow thinkers. This forum encourages the capability of all. I cannot recommend this conference any higher, something I endeavour never to miss.
